Neo NetZero™ is a transformative 501(c)(3) non-profit program that delivers cost-free and affordable high-speed internet, digital TV, and telephone services directly to multi-dwelling unit (MDU) buildings. Specifically designed for low-income families, K-12 students, and seniors, the program eliminates the barriers that keep vulnerable populations disconnected from essential digital services.
Neo NetZero™ transforms multi-dwelling buildings into thriving digital communities, delivering equity and opportunity directly to every doorstep through innovative technology and sustainable economics.
Neo NetZero™ delivers high-speed broadband service to MDU buildings using either a direct fiber connection from its core network, or a high-capacity wireless signal (Public Wi-Fi or Private LTE/CBRS) backhauled from nearby Neo NetZero™ host sites.
Once the high-speed signal enters the building, Neo NetZero™ leverages existing coaxial and telephone lines, installs wireless routers and Wi-Fi access points throughout the structure, and ensures comprehensive coverage so every unit has access to receive reliable high-speed connectivity.
Residents get connected in several ways, with private in-unit Wi-Fi for reliable home access and free public Wi-Fi available in community areas and outdoor spaces. They can also choose bundled triple-play services that include high-speed internet, digital TV with local channels, and VoIP phone service to cover both communication and entertainment needs.
Residents pay a flat monthly fee to keep their service running smoothly, while property owners benefit from single billing to reduce administrative costs. Residents can also choose to opt-in / out and billing would be adjusted accordingly. To make sure the program lasts long term, additional revenue comes from things like advertising, premium service options, and data insights, creating a balanced and sustainable way to fund connectivity.
Neo NetZero™ succeeds where other programs fall short by using a self-sustaining model that generates revenue from streaming, data analytics, e-commerce, and targeted advertising, reducing reliance on government subsidies and keeping costs low for residents.
The program directly addresses the digital divide where it matters most. In Detroit's pilot project, where 80% of residents qualify for connectivity assistance, Neo NetZero™ provides immediate relief to families who have been priced out of essential internet services.
While subscribers pay a low monthly fee, the program generates additional revenue from various sources. This includes streaming video, big data & analytics, e-commerce, digital content & cable TV, targeted advertising, and online gaming. These additional revenue streams cover the remaining costs, making the service sustainable.
Neo NetZero™ is one of NNDI's structured programs, which can be seamlessly combined with others, such as Neighborhood Networks™ and Cost-Free Connectivity for Kids™, as part of a broader Smart City Master Plan.
